Brush with Greatness: Dirk Nowitzki

With the Mavericks struggling to play to the form of previous incarnations of the team, some are questioning Dirk Nowitzki. It has even been suggested that we trade the Big German and start over. These people need to be reminded just who Dirk is, and what he has meant to the Mavericks orginazation. Simply put, you don’t trade guys like Dirk, you build statues of them. Here is a simple look at Dirk’s career when placed against the best power forwards of all time.

You are forgetting one of the greatest PF of all time, and the one that Basketball-Reference.com says Dirk’s career most closely matches…Dr. J…Julius Erving, Check out their “Similarity stats” its pretty cool.

Was going for a more modern vibe. Also the good Dr. was more of a 3 in my estimation. Dude was too good a ball handler to be a 4. Same reason I can’t say Magic played the 3. Or recognize that Lebron plays 4 a good deal for the Heat.
